Jupiter in
XX Many years ago I did a lecture entitled, “Problems-To-Purpose-To-Peace.” That subject, in essence, can be our story as transiting Jupiter moves through the carreer/success/achievment sign, Capricorn.
OOAs we move inward in our planetary series, from Pluto to the Sun at the center of our Solar System, we arrive at the largest planet, Jupiter.
OOJupiter is so large that over one thousand Earths would fit inside; and it has more matter than the rest of the planets combined. Its equatorial diameter is 88,736 miles. Like the Sun, Jupiter is mainly composed of hydrogen and helium with smaller amounts of other compounds. As of 2007, there are 28 known satellites to Jupiter. Four of these moons were observed nearly four centuries ago, by Galileo in 1610.
OOJupiter completes its circuit through all 12 signs in the zodiac every 11.9 years. It spends about one year in each sign. Jupiter entered the sign, Capricorn on December 18, 2007 and will be the symbolic psychological driving force for all that Capricorn stands for, until it moves into the next sign, Aquarius on January 5, 2009.
Jupiter was the chief Roman god or King of heaven. Juno was his Queen. They were the god and goddess of light, the sky, weather and the welfare of the state and its laws. Jupiter, ruling planet of Sagittarius, is associated with luck, joviality, optimism and expansion. He is the planet of opportunity. In a natal chart, the sign Jupiter is in “colors” or modifies this planet of basic personality.
OOAs Jupiter moves through the Sign Capricorn it will symbolize a year ahead in which many are likely to feel more psychologically “ripe” to expand and find rewarding accomplishments in areas symbolized by the Capricorn “script.” Capricorn and its ruling planet, Saturn, are associated with: Career, social status, reputation, profession and success in life (“dad will be proud of me now!”).
OOCapricorn is associated with ambition and the desire to be unique in some way. In its positive expression Capricorn is associated with perseverance, practicality, good character and responsibility. It can also become quite serious at times. Some people born with Jupiter in Capricorn include: Johnny Carson, Edgar Cayce, Walt Disney, Adolf Hitler, William James, Emily Dickenson, Charles Lindbergh, Robert F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.
You may find some more Capricorn/Saturn keynotes in “Collective Significance of Saturn in Virgo” article And you may find more ideas for the Jupiter/Sagittarius energies in the “Seed Time For Planetary Transformation: Pluto’s Alignment with Galactic Center” article.
OOOptimistic Jupiter can be more cautious or doubting while in serious Saturn’s sign, Capricorn. Nonetheless, during this cycle there is likely to be opportunity for serious growth. This can include internationally, politically as well as in areas of personal ambition to succeed.
OOFor those who have decided that they want to have a Life focus that they believe in - one that is inspired, more than motivated - it can be a time in which “doors seem to open.” For many the concept of “success” may change from external sources in order to feel good, and become more inwardly directed. In other words “success” may be learning how to feel Joy - on purpose.
OOBusiness may take on a more global coloring. There is likely to be a more serious commitment to truth in politics. This can include more honest, “shoot-from-the-hip” people in control in high places. “Cautious Optimism” would seem to be the generic phrase for this year-long transit.
OOExpansive career moves - often involving distant travel or foreign places - are more likely than in other years. International commerce may expand.
OOThis transit can be a great time for those who have lived a cautious, fearful or negative outlook on life, to begin to “look for the silver lining” in all situations. To begin to realize that all of our “stumbling blocks” have always been “stepping stones” in disguise. Henry Ford said: “Think you can, think you can’t, either way you’re right.” For those people who were born with Jupiter in Capricorn this transit may be especially auspicious for growth.
OOThis Jupiter in Capricorn cycle brings to mind Oscar Wilde's, “Life is far too important to be taken seriously.”
Those who are more likely to succeed, in their expanded ambition to grow during this cycle, will be those who know, and believe in, what they are aiming for. They will be guided by intuition, and always take the “fork in the road” which feels best in the Moment. They will feel worthy of support from the Universe because their motives are for the benefit of the Whole. They will align with Who-They-Really-Are (“The Kingdom Within”) by frequently noticing how GoOD Things are. And in this State of Oneness Consciousness and appreciation they will have no choice but to expect all good things to come. May we all be Blessed with Joy as we join in on this Parade!
